Florida's hot, humid summers present a special challenge for many plants. This video will introduce you to drought tolerant plants and flowers that thrive in the Florida climate and will provide color to the landscape, year-round. Be sure that your garden area has plenty of sunlight and that the soil drains well. You can add some compost to enrich the area where you are going to plant the flowers. To create a beautiful butterfly garden, plant some bush daisies in the center. Place clusters of lantana around them. The next year, use pentas, and Mexican heather as a border plant. All of these plants like lots of sunlight. Water your garden every day for about 3 weeks. Then, you can minimize watering as needed because your plants will already be established. When creating a landscape design, select the tallest plants to go in the back, or center of the garden. Tier the plants so you can see each one clearly. Lastly, mulch your garden generously. This will help to prevent weed growth and will retain moisture in the soil. You can mix and match many of these flowers for Florida.
